THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE - 9-5-10

The Legal recognition of same-sex unions poses a multifaceted threat to the very fabric of society, striking at the source from which society and culture come and which they are meant to serve. Such recognition affects all people,...not only at the fundamental levels of the good of the spouses, the good of the children, the intrinsic dignity of every human person, and the common good, but also at the levels of education, cultural imagination and influence, and religious freedom (Taken from USCCB Pastoral on Marriage - "Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan")

PRO-LIFE THOUGHTS FROM PRIESTS FOR LIFE - 9-5-10

Dr. Tony Levatino used to be an abortionists. Yet as he took the lives of unborn children..., he was saddened that he and his wife could not conceive one of their own, and he did not miss the irony. Finally, he adopted a daughter. Yet some years later, this little girl was hit by a car in front of her house, and died. It was not long after this tragedy that Dr. Levatino stopped doing abortions. Now he is a strong pro-life advocate and speaks out boldly about the horror of abortion. Find out more about his story and other former abortionists at

THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE - 8-29-10

The Church upholds the human dignity of homosexual persons, who are to be"accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity." (Catechism of the Catholic Church #2358). She also encourages all persons to have chaste friendships. Chastity is expressed notably in friendship with one’s neighbor. Whether it develops between persons of the same sex or opposite sex, friendship represents a great good for all." (CCC #2347)....At the same time, the Church teaches that homosexual acts are contrary to the natural law. PRO-LIFE THOUGHTS FROM PRIESTS FOR LIFE - 8-29-10

"In a pluralistic society, people disagree. It is arrogant to insist that the Church does not have the right to her own teaching. Certainly, a politician has the freedom to reject the Churches teaching. But let’s be honest. To choose to be pro-choice is to reject the Gospel of life. It is to be not faithful to Church teaching. The Church teaches that the right to life is fundamental. Without life, there are no other rights...Today not only is the taking of so many innocent lives alarming, but no less unsettling is the darkening of conscience among so many who find it increasingly difficult to distinguish between good and evil in what concerns the basic value of human life." (Gospel of Life 4

THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE - 8-22-10

To promote and protect marriage as the union of one man and one woman is itself a matter of justice. In fact, it would be a grave injustice if the state ignored the unique and proper place of husbands and wives, the place of mothers and fathers, and especially the rights of children, who deserve from society clear guidance as they grow to sexual maturity. Indeed without this protection the state would, in effect, intentionally deprive of a right to a mother and father. PRO-LIFE THOUGHTS FROM PRIESTS FOR LIFE - 8-22-10

"Quite often I even wake up in the morning thinking painfully of the undeniably selfish act I did over 11 years ago - STILL! I know I overrode in my core being my conscience (dulled at the time) and my Fatherhood instinct. No two ways about it: I acted - no, I was a coward. My action, despite my confession and repentance before my Creator - continues to rob much of the joy from my life. I would do anything (if God would accept the bargain) to reverse that fateful mistake." (Testimony of a Dad after Abortion) - see more testimonies at www.priestsforlife.org/testimonies

THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE - 8-15-10

A child is meant to have a mother and a father. The true nature of marriage, lived in openness to life, is a witness to the precious gift of the child and to the unique roles of mother and father. Same sex unions are incapable of such a witness. Consequently, making them equivalent to marriage disregards the very nature of marriage. (Taken from USCCB Pastoral on Marriage - "Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan")

PRO-LIFE THOUGHTS FROM PRIESTS FOR LIFE - 8-15-10

Along with Easter and the Ascension, today's Solemnity of the Assumption is a perfect opportunity to proclaim the Christian truth of the victory of life over death.  Christ is life, and he shares his victory over death with all the members of His Body, the Church.  That is whay Mary, who was and is closer to him than anyone else, is there to share, body and soul in the victory.  Therefore, the Assumption is truly a pro-life Solemnity.

THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE - 8-8-10

Marriage is a unique union, a relationship different from all others.  It is the permanent bond between one man and one woman whose two - in - one - flesh communion of persons is an indispensible good at the heart of every family and every society.  Same sex unions are incapable of realizing this specific communion of persons.  (Taken from USCCB Pastoral on Marriage - "Marriage:  Love and life in the Divine Plan")

A Letter from an Unborn Child

Dear Christians,

I was very much looking forward to my life in this world.  I wanted to have dolls, ride a bike, go to the circus and see the zoo.  I looked forward to celebrating Christmas and receiving Jesus in Holy Communion.  I am very sad that I never got to do any of these things.  My parents did not let me be born.  But I just don't know one thing - WHY DIDN'T ANY OF YOU HELP ME?  I WISH YOU HAD.  NOBOBY HEARD MY CRYING VOICE. - From an unborn baby

THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE - 8-1-10

Children are a gift in a myriad of ways.  They bring joy in the midst of heartaches; they give added direction to the lives of their parents.  Children, who are the fruit of love and meaningful commitment, are a cause of love and meaning. (Taken from USCCB Pastoral on Marriage - "Marriage:  Love and life in the Divine Plan"

PRO-LIFE THOUGHTS FROM PRIESTS FOR LIFE - 8-1-10

As the Gospel indicates, judgement can come at any moment, our opportunity to give life to others can cease at any moment.  "To whom will all this pilled up wealth of yours go?"  In the culture of life, we are secure at every moment in knowing that we simply seek to give ourselves away, that others may live.

THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE - 7-25-10

One of the most troubling developments in contemporary culture is the proposition that persons of the same sex can "marry."  This proposal attempts to redefine the nature of marriage and family and, as a result, harms both the intrinsic dignity of every human person and the common good of society.

PRO-LIFE THOUGHTS FROM PRIESTS FOR LIFE - 7-25-10

"On October 23, I went and did my last few abortions on just a few patients.  And I know it would be my last day.  And that evening, I said NO to money and YES to God. The next day I went down to church and confessed with my mouth that Jesus is Lord.  Then on my way out of the chuch I saw this blue brochure for a crisis pregnancy center.  I just looked at it and kind of felt that this is what I should be involved with.  The next day I called the center and told them that I was a doctor in Atlanta and had done many, many thousands of abortions, and that I came to Christ the day before and now wanted to do everything to save babies instead of taking their lives." - Dr. Joseph Randall

THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE - 7-18-10

The procreative capacity of man and woman should not be treated as just another means of technology, as also happens with "in vitro" fertilization (IVF) or cloning.  When that happens, human life itself is degraded because it becomes, more and more, something produced or manufactured in various ways, ways that will only multiply as science advances. Children begin to be seen less as gifts received in a personal communion of mutual self-giving, and increasingly as a lifestyle choice, as a commodity to which all consumers are entitled.

PRO-LIFE THOUGHTS FROM PRIEST FOR LIFE: 7-18-10

The Church prays for all who have had abortions, and welcome them back in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  At www.priestforlife.org/testimonies, you can read, in their own words, the experience of women and men who have lost children to abortion.  One woman writes, "My abortion was very painful, physically and mentally.  It affected me in the worst way.  I felt very guilty.  I couldn't look at any kids.  I know I won't ever do it again."
